SHRI KISHORI MOHAN BANDYOPADHYAY

Shri Kishori Mohan was the third child of Shri Noni Gopal Bandyopadhyay. He was born in the year 1919. Since there was no schooling facility in and around 20 km from the village, his formal education was from home coaching and schooling from faraway place, He earned workable education initially and later undergone GT training, which made him eligible for Govt teacher job. Consequently he joined as a primary school teacher in a neighbouring village (Kamargaria) and superannuated as Head Teacher.

Throughout his life as school teacher, he imparted free coaching to students, even catering for the students’ stay at his house, since students used to attend coaching from distant villages.

In another social service count, Kishori Mohan carried the legacy of free medical service from his father Shri Nanigopal Bandyopadhyay. He was a registered Homeopath doctor, the only one in the entire Majhergram Anchal. There was no medical facility within 20 km of the village. He ran a charitable homeopath dispensary and used to treat village patients without any remuneration more often than not.

Kishori Mohan had inclination towards cultural ethos. He used to play harmonium, while singing. He initiated Musical Sabha in Bandopadhyay Bhaban with a few music lovers of the village, in attendance. That was a big hit, later on, it converted into a unofficial cultural society of the village.

Kishori Mohan was also selected as Gram Adhyakshya of Humania Pota village. By virtue of his position, he was engaged with developmental works in the village as well as villagers’ looked up to him during conflict resolution and in need.

Kishori Mohan died at the age of 64 in 1983. Being childless, Kishori Mohan brought up three kids of his younger brother Krishna Mohan, with due care, love and kindness. These children have done well in their life and highly motivated to carry his legacy of social work, in the village.
